Watercolour Suns!

A basic understanding of Cricut Design Space will help you create these crafts*

Giving toddlers watercolour paints is one of my favourite ways to create! I love watching them mix the colours and pile on so much water their paper is soaked through…and because no matter how much paint or water they splash on, the final result is always gorgeous!

I started this craft by cutting out a sun shape on watercolour paper using my Cricut. The sun image is from the Create a Critter cartridge. I seperated the layers and just used the main sun outline (the black layer).

I cut some sunglasses out from the Prehistoric Party cartridge. I also chose to cut only the black layer.

I gave each child a sun, on watercolour paper, and some yellow and orange watercolour paints and let them go to town on it. They had so much fun! Something as small as using a different medium in crafting can be exciting for little ones.

Many, many hours later, when the paint was dry, I had them put some glue on the sunglasses and stick them on the sun. Their collection of sunshine proudly hung above our umbrella and counting raindrops!
