Today’s activity is SUPER simple, takes 2 minutes to set up and will keep your little one entertained for quite a while!
*This activity is appropriate for children that no longer put everything in their mouth, and that can chew properly. Always supervise your kids around small objects!*
What you need:
- 1 box of Fruit Loops (We used the store brand)
- 6 pipe cleaners (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
Twist all 6 pipe cleaners at one end and fold over. You want them to all be attached at one end. Dump the box of Fruit Loops in a bin. Set up done!
Kate (almost 4 yrs) immediately started stringing the Fruit Loops onto the corressponding colour pipe cleaner to create a rainbow. Younger kids may want to scoop them, stack them or thread them onto any colour pipe cleaner they want…those are all great ideas too!
This activity is great for building fine motor skills, colour recognition and sensory development. Ask about what colours they see, count them, ask what the Fruit Loops smell like, feel like, etc.
